Alvin Toffler's view on education

I talked to someone about this just the other day, just can't remember who.
Anyway, it's the kind of thing that makes you wonder...

Brownie in Australia, packing for Canada!

You were wondering where Brownie was, he was in Australia! Visit his blog and check out the photos. Now he is packing for Canada.

I will show it to my students next week. I also hope to be able to do something nice next semester, with the groups I get...because our school term ends, but Brownie's journey doesn't! Anyway, I still haven't figured out what....

Cheers!

Have you ever heard of it? I had never. It seems to be a very interesting tool, BUT I do think our blog is the right place for us to regularly share the websites we find relevant to our work.

Is there a way to do it, Giselle?

Meanwhile, enjoy it...

Teacher's Day

The best thing about being a teacher, is to know that we are going to be remembered for an eternity by our students, even though we gotta work hard to make things memorable...

I know that I DO love what I do, and I DO know that I'm in the best place, with the best teachers!

Congratulations to all of us, that one day dreamt about becoming someone that makes a difference!

Crazy about "animotoing" - Putting Jr.D and Basic 2 together...

To start with, I decided on not wasting any paper. The students generally bring their own notebooks. Tha's more than enough.

I innitially proposed a dictation and according to vocabulary investigation previously done, I found out that many interesting coincidences lay into both levels (Jr.D and Basic 2) table of content concerning grammar... COMPARATIVES...

(Btw, Andrea, I've got to thank YOU for the excellent boys you have... :P Tell them to check out our animoto at the "mashed-up" Junior D's weblog: http://coolcrazyclass.blogspot.com/)

After having dictated 7 sentences mixing Past and Present Simple structures, the most familiar possible to all the students' ears, as well as considering variety and grading new vocabulary (which I call: vocab associations) to both groups that built up all the connections teaching ones to the others meanings of words and giving examples to each other in a crashy competitive environment, healthly controlled, though.

Dictation
1. Me and my daughter bought a present.
2. Marge and Lisa are stranger than my mom and my sister.
3. They ate a bowl of cereals for breakfast.
4. They had a glass of orange juice with lunch.
5. Cereals are cheaper than turkey.
6. Santa Claus is fatter than the teacher.
7. Winter was colder last year.

We got to the following sentence:
"Marge and Lisa Simpson ate a bowl of cereals on Christmas because it's cheaper than a turkey."
Rather complex following the contructive interational devices and strategies embedded in it.

and then, that's what we got...

Try it out and give me some feedback,

Dealing with sts with ADHD

Hi folks,

I've posted this in my tumblr journal I've been doing with Michele, so I thought it could be of some help for you teachers who might have these kind od students.

What causes it? It could be genetic, but no one is sure. Could be brain injuries during pregnancy, alcohol, tobacco, food additives and lead from dying the hair.

This is the link to the Youtube page my students set up last year (all my students use it).  If you click on my videos, or uploaded videos, you will find videos of cultural places in Rio where my Plus 6 students went to and recorded themselves describing that place for foreigners, for example.  I am soooooo proud!!  Every student did it, and they did a great job!!!  Of course, now we go to phase II: do it again, but better (after getting feedback)!!

Invitation to meet the Enchanted Valley!

When it comes to thinking about the most interesting, beautiful places I've already been to,

o VALE ENCANTADO (Alto da Boa Vista - Rio de Janeiro - RJ) is one of the first spots that beat my memories.

The Valley looks at S.Conrado and Barra beaches, and besides a big sports club nearby, nothing shows up except for some houses and the surrounding forest.

Has anyone from "OUTSIDE the BOX" been there? (rs)

If so, and you have good photos to share, it will be fantastic, because I've been there a couple of times and never had the chance to take a good photo of the place. Or maybe we could all get together to pay the valley a visit...what do you think? The only restaurant there sells the best PALMARES wine from Caxias (rsrs)...specially for you, Tania! heheheh

(By the way, I stole the photo above from the Web...It's not mine...rs)
PS> I'm rather serious about organizing a tour around there...

Como dar vida ao seu Twitterego!

1.Pense em uma identidade secreta e não conte para ninguém (nem mesmo após concluir as seguintes etapas)

2.Acesse www.twitter.com
